Man's best friend

For quite a while I’ve been looking into what would be a good breed of dog for me to get. I’ve wanted a dog for ages, a little fella who can be my mate and will hang out with me but not be too full-on in the maintenance department.

The past few months I’ve had my eye on a Scottish Terrier, but my research has made me realise that this wasn’t the best breed for me, largely due to the fact that whilst I’ll train and love a dog, I’m not wanting one that will be very snobby or moody, which Scotties seem to have a tendency to be. I also want one that will be good around young kids, given I have a young nephew and niece would like kids of my own in the next couple of years.

So… more research has lead me to what I believe is the perfect dog for me:

Pug Puppy

Pug

A PUG!

Cute as, I reckon! And listen to this description of its nature:

“They are perky, rambunctious and loyal, affectionate and loving, with a happy disposition. They are playful and charming. Clever and mischievous – with a heart-winning personality. Highly intelligent, it bores easily with repetitive training practices. Pugs are sensitive to the tone of your voice, so harsh punishment is unnecessary.

“The dog is neither excitable nor dull. They are good watchdogs, very devoted and are not yappers. Pugs get along well with other dogs and pets, and they behave impeccably with both children and visitors. Do not forget though, that they require lots of attention and become jealous if their owner ignores them. “

I like all of that, especially the last sentence, given that I’m often accused of smothering Maddy with cuddles and kisses.

I now have to convince my wife, the landlord and Maddy that a Pug would be a great addition to our household… fingers crossed!

They say dogs look like their owners or it the other way around – never the less I can see the resemblance ! Hope the grandchildren look better with nice little feet!
